Zika virus (ZIKV) is mosquito-borne emerging Flavivirus. Which was first identified in Zika forest at Uganda in 1947 in rhesus monkey. It was caused by a bite of an infected Aedes mosquito. Primarily Aedes aegypti and later Aedes albopictus is also a potential vector of ZIKV, based on data from experimental infections. The virus belongs to family Flaviviridae. Generally 80% of patients with Zika virus is asymptomatic, approximately one person in five who becomes infected with Zika are likely to have symptoms. It is a sexually transmitted virus, it is also transmitted from mother to baby. The main sign with baby infected with this Zika virus is microcephaly. The pathogenesis of flaviviruses (Zika virus) are thought to replicate initially in dendritic cells near the site of inoculation then spread to lymph nodes and the bloodstream and later in cellular cytosol. The epidemiology of Zika is more in continents like Asia and Africa. Zika virus is diagnosed through PCR (polymerase chain reaction). The incubation period is typically 3–12 days. There is no specific therapy for Zika virus infection and acute symptoms typically resolve within 4-7 days. Preventive measures are necessary to stop the spread and transmission of virus especially in case of special population like pregnant women and common public....
